Rock-climbing is one of my favourite outdoor activities. It is a challenging sport, that, much like doing academic research and teaching new subjects, pushes me to my limits and allows me to grow in unexpected and constructive ways. As the great Lynn Hill says, climbing is like a ‘moving meditation’, and it allows me to find my focus away from the office and with a great and supportive community that cares about the outdoors and keeping the environment accessible to all. I am an active member of The Access Fund and of The American Alpine Club, two organizations that support climbers and protect the public lands so crucial for our sport.
I also like to take photos, mostly with my analogue Canon AE1. When I have time, I also develop my own black and white film. Occasionally, I publish my shots on my photography blog.
